Homework
Homework is given out at the end of the week (Friday). It is to be completed and handed in on Monday morning. Homework will generally consist of one piece of mathematics, a literacy based activity and spellings.
Additional Independent Learning
In addition, Year 6 children are asked to:
- Read for at least 20 minutes each day. Whilst children are able to select their own choice of reading matter, we would encourage them to explore quality texts that cover a variety of genres eg. fiction, non-fiction, poetry, classics, newspapers etc.
- Practise times tables every day. This is to ensure that they can instantly answer random times table questions (up to 12 x 12), together with the associated division facts. Please make use of Times Tables Rockstars.
Don’t forget about RM Easimaths and Linguascope which you can always access at home.
Physical Education
Willow – PE is on Monday (outdoor with Adam) and Thursday.
Chestnut – PE is on Monday (outdoor with Adam)and Thursday (swimming).
As the children will engage in both indoor and outdoor P.E. throughout the year, they will require suitable clothing for both. Please remember that it does get very cold and tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt are essential to keep your child warm. Please can all items of clothing and footwear be clearly named.
