Y5/6 Girls' Football Team

Today was one of my proudest moments as P.E coordinator at Eccleston Mere. Friday 26th April will go down in history as the first time a girls football team has won a competition in the school's history.

After only 6 weeks of training the girls attended the Lily Parr Competition at Ruskin Drive and came away not only champions but undefeated and did not concede a single goal in any of their matches. In what was really challenging conditions the girls did not complain about being cold or wet and shown no fear against more experienced opposition. 

Our team beat Eaves 1-0 in what was a nerve-shredding final after Dervla held her nerve and scored a penalty. Whilst she is not in the team photo, Mair L performed exceptionally in defence to help keep a clean sheet in all of our matches.
